Stopping to Smell the Roses and Dahlia’s at the High Hampton Inn, Cashiers, North Carolina with Bob & Barb Epstein
Our Senior Content Editors Bob
& Barb Epstein were invited guest recently at the High Hampton Inn in Cashiers, North Carolina and would like to share with our readers their personal experience!
Remember when there were no TV’s, a radio was an extravagance, things were made of wood, a good time, no, a great time was whooping it up and swimming at the lake, eating good solid, home-cooked style foods, fresh made, and baked breads and desserts and plenty of them with family and friends?
After more than 90-years, and since the original lodge burned late in the 1800’s, and the new lodge was rebuilt in 1922, the High Hampton Inn & Country Club still embodies all of the above, and so, much, much more!
There is a rich history here going back over 2000-years. Once, The area was the native home to the Cherokee Indians. The property was once owned by a Civil War General, a world renowned surgeon and head of Johns Hopkins Hospital, who pioneered several medical innovations such as the use of rubber gloves and morphine as an anesthesia at Maryland’s, John Hopkins Hospital.
At lunch on our first of three days at High Hampton Inn & Country Club we talked to the Drakes from Tallahassee, Florida. The couple have been coming every year for 23-years in a row on the same week (starting on Labor Day) because it’s after the summer season, “a bit more quiet and restful after school goes back in session” said Mr. Drake, and they plan on coming back again next year too! I asked them why the loyalty and fascination, and why not try another Inn and they said, “wait, you just got here. Ask me this question tomorrow or tonight at dinner. You’ll find out the answer yourself.” We did and the answer is why we are writing this article.

Dubai Air Show starts today November 13-17, 2011 Remote coverage by Apphotonews correspondent Bob O’Connor
Interview with Alexei Fedorov, President, IRKUT Corp
for Dubai Air Show 2011
What are perspectives of IRKUT Corp on markets of combat aviation in Middle East and North Africa?
These markets are of priority for us. IRKUT Corp has got the experience of long-term and fruitful cooperation with Algeria. Su-30 MK multi-functional fighters are successfully operational with the Algerian Air Force. The contract of their delivery, signed up in 2006, was completed by IRKUT two years back.
After getting satisfied with outstanding characteristics of the fighter, in 2010 Algeria ordered its one more batch.
In 2011 the Algeria Air Force will get Yak-130 trainer, being just manufactured at the IRKUT’s plant in the Irkutsk-City in Russian Siberia. Algerian pilots have enough experience of flying the plane and do really like it.
Our expectations on further development of cooperation with the region are strongly focused on the Yak-130.
Please, clarify why it is precisely this aircraft?
In fact, the Yak-130 is a subsonic combat trainer of advanced training capacity of the new generation and in this aspect it is the first in the world. It differs from trainers of previous generation by its capacity to provide a full-scale training of pilots for fighters of “4+” and “5” generations. The trainer matches them in its maneuverability, thrust-to-weight ratio, capability of flight at high angle of attack, IT software of the pilot’s cockpit Continue reading

Stuart, FL – One of the highlights that you won’t want to miss at this year’s Stuart Air Show on November 13 and 14th will be the speakers and displays at the Living Legends Tent.
The activities in the tent are being coordinated by volunteers of the Stuart Air Show including Todd Harris and Mark Smith of Crown Car Care. Crown Car Care is the official sponsor of the Living Legends tent.
Since their involvement with the Stuart Air Show for the first time last year, Smith and Harris have been involved with the Road to Victory Military Museum, the air show and Honor Flight of Southeast Florida. Both men were guardians on the September 24 flight to Washington, DC. and they are passionate about raising funds for the program.
“It is such an amazing experience for the veterans to travel to Washington, D.C. and see the memorials dedicated to their honor and service. It costs $400 to take one veteran on the trip and we want to raise money so every veteran can go,” commented Todd. Continue reading
